August 26- Hooray! Success Stories!!

Hey there... I just wanted to take a minute to let you all know that I am starting to hear from women from all over telling me about their success stories! So far I have had three different women (two in the states and one from the UK) share with me that they, too, had been given the POF diagnosis and told their only hope would be donor eggs and after a few months of doing the same regimen as me (the supplements, Chinese Medicine, etc) they have turned their diagnosis around! Two of the girls officially got their BFP and one of them their FSH went from 70 to 7 and just got their period back!!! This is absolutely AMAZING news and I couldn't be happier. I wanted to share this with you so you can have even more hope that the doctor's word isn't always final and they don't know everything!

It means the world to me to hear from you all and the kind things you write. It is wonderful to know that my words have given hope and inspiration to so many others suffering with the same terrible condition. It was reading other people's success stories that gave me the hope I needed to stay strong and keep fighting to get my body functioning properly again. So to know I am contributing in the same way is truly a gift and an honor.

Please continue to share your stories. It is all of us getting the word out there to each other that is causing all these positive changes and instilling hope to others all over the world!

  1. Hooray! Love hearing these stories, it is what keeps me going. Especially when I drink my wheat grass each morning. It all makes it worth it.

  4. Hi Cole, I too, want to thank you for your blog. Being in the same place as you, i am basically going page by page in the Google researching. First it was reserching all the prognosis of DOR now, i am only focusing on success stories which lead me to you. I am not a success story yet and don't know if i will ever become one as i can't shake the stats out of my head and find the hardest thing is to stay positive. At 33, i was diagnosed with DOR having FSH 25 and amh 0.23. After many tears (like your first post), i turned to naturapath along with accupanture. Didn't like accupanture but, taking the same supplements as you now for almost 3 months. One thing i noticed, i ovulated now on day 13 instead of day 10 as previously and although my cycles are regular, they are shorter 22-24 days. I am going to try and be more like you and stay optimist so, i can come back and post a success story...i just hope it happens one day...think of me!

    1. E.D.,

Thank you for writing and sharing what you are going through. I am so sorry to hear you are struggling with DOR. I will say that your FSH isn't terribly bad! That is very promising! I've seen MANY women with FSH way higher than that end up having success! Now that you have been taking all the supplements and going to the naturopath for three months, have you rechecked your numbers? They say to check every three months or so. I'd be interested to see if they've come down at all. If you do, please let me know!!!

And I must admit, while I seem perpetually optimistic in my blog there were many a days that I felt defeated. But like you, I researched all the success stories I could find and that renews a sense of hope, something you need to always hang on to! It's okay to have bad days now and then, but stay positive while you can and never give up!

I'm here anytime you need a shoulder, want to chat or just need to vent!

      Sending positive vibes your way!
      Cole

  6. Happy Friday Cole! It's ED here again. Thank you for keeping my spiritis up, i really thought my fsh was really high and since i have not gotten pregnant not even miscarriage, i assumed that my fsh 25 means crappy eggs. I have not had the chance to redo my tests as i am terrified however, i am clinging to hope that they are better since i am ovulating later and ND said that is good for DOR. This Tuesday, at 7am, i am going back to fertility clinic to ask to start medicated iui/cycles. I am thinking of starting on Fermara this cycles in hopes to get two mature eggs and then move on to medicated IUI. i am so scared of waiting...maybe my body needs more boosting. I loved that you were so optimistic in your story, it made me connect with you. By the way, how you doing there and how are the babies :) Boy and a girl, such a happy ending!!!

    1. ED,

I'm glad I lifted your spirits! I know getting your numbers checked again can be quite daunting, that is exactly how I felt. I went into it thinking the worst so that I wouldn't be let down, but sure enough my numbers had changed drastically much to my surprise! So you never know!

It sounds like you have a solid plan ahead of you. I have heard good things about Femera. Have you been doing all the natural fertility supplements for a while? If so you might want to check your numbers first because you may not even need the fertility meds if your hormone levels have returned to normal.

Definitely keep me posted on how things go with you!!

      Have a great weekend,
      Cole

    2. Hi Cole,
Thank you for your support and for keeping my hopes up! I have been on the natural treatments for 3 months now including the dhea and started cycle monitoring yet again this morning as i wanted to start on Fermara. I am not overly hopeful to succeed with Fermara alone but, who knows, right. We are debating about doing IUI with Fermara this cycle as well. I was upset this morning as my AFC was the same as it was prior to taking DHEA (10 total) as i was hoping that it would increase. Waiting to hear what my FSH is today, although it is day 5 not 3...Wish me luck and i will post my success story here as well (hopefully soon).

    3. ED,

Well don't worry TOO much on your AFC because remember, all it takes is ONE good egg! Please let me know what you find out about your FSH...

  7. how is everyone having their FSH tested if you do not cycle?

    1. I always wondered the same thing, because when mine was tested I did not have a cycle since I have always heard of it being tested on Day 3. But I guess if you have no cycle they still need to get some kind of baseline of where your FSH is at to see what they are working with. For example, even though mine was taken on a random day because I had no cycle, it was initially 133 which indicated a problem. I am right there with you though, I think doctors need to not put so much emphasis on hormone levels because clearly they can be changed without western medicine treatment...

  8. My known highest FSH was 94. I went thru acupuncture and herbs, 2 rounds of donor IVF, and thru the course of the hormone treatments my FSH went down to 33. I had a BFP the second time only to lose the baby at 10 weeks. This has been almost a 10 year battle and like you I refuse to give up hope. I cannot afford more acupuncture at this time but I am on board to try your herbal concoctions. I have researched these as well and they all look right up my alley, ha! I am extremely happy for you and love to keep up with your story.
Please keep me in your hopes and prayers...

    1. Gana,

I am so sorry to hear about all you've been going through. You are quite the fighter having dealt with this for so long. I admire your tenacity and spirit for staying strong and not giving up! Please let me know how it goes with the herbal remedies. If you decide to go that route and find they are too expensive, let me know, as I can get them at a HUGE discount and ship them to you as I have done for someone else on here. Anything to help.

Wishing you the best of luck on your journey and please keep me posted on how things are going!

      Have a great weekend,

  9. Cole!!! I'm so happy today! On Fermara, today, day 8, i have two 1.6 follies!!! Only a few days till O and these are from two different ovaries. I am getting a bit hopeful, telling myself not to get too excited but, can't help it. Also, FSH on day 5 was 9.9 woot woot!!! Down from 24.9 back in Feb. I am now thinking maybe like you said, i may not need the fertility treatments just yet and since i am responding so well to Fermara, try again next cycle instead of moving to injectables like Gonal F which does the same thing, grows follies. All in all, i feel happy today and will bask in that feeling.
P.S. Loooove the names you guys chose!!! I'm following you on that journey just can't for some reason make comments like here

  10. I spoke to soon and got excited too soon as i forgot that on day 5 my estrogen was 300 which suppresses FSH so, i still don't have the actualy number but, me thinks it's still no good :( Well, my excited didn't last long.
Oh, it's ED, in all the excited i forgot to identify myself.
Have a good weekend Cole and baby R&R.

  11. Girl, you don't know that it's no good! You had follies and that is a step in the right direction! And if it doesn't work this time, it's still better than it was and may just need more time to kick in. Whatever you do, don't lose hope now! Just think of it as a positive step in a process.

    Please keep me posted, okay?

    Have a fabulous weekend!

PS- Oh and btw... I have other people posting on my other blog so I am not sure why you haven't been able to... hmmm...

  12. Thanks Cole! Will try to stay positive and you are right, it is still in the right direction and the results are still better now than they were in Feb (day 3 estrogen 300 and FSH 24.9) now, this is on day 5.

Thanks for being there for me, in the corner rooting for me!

P.S Weird, i see no comments by other people on your twinjourney blog...hmmm

  13. I have been on basically the same herbal remedies also for about 3-4 months. When I first started I had a small menstrual cycle only lasting 2 days and now I just continue to have menstrual like cramps ongoing. Did you have this happen also? I did take soy iso the first month and after it made my cycle stop I stopped them. Maybe this messed up the rotation? Just wanted to see if anyone else had these symptoms, I admit it is at least fun having even cramping since I havent had an actual normal period for years! ha!

    1. Hi, I can tell you that I haven't noticed any cramping with the supplements. But then I ALSO have endometriosis so what I call a "cramp" is ridiculously painful double over in pain kinda cramping. I can say that I definitely feel a kind of fluttering, like bubbles and I have experienced spotting as well as increased EWCM and my ovulation day seems to move up earlier, which is fine because I used to ovulate on day 14-16, now it's day 10-14. My cycles are and have always been clock work, so nothing has changed there. I hope that helps a little!

  15. Not quite a success story YET... but I am (finally) starting the trial I've been waiting on and they did my baseline testing earlier this week... They didn't test AMH because that's irrelevant for this study I am in, but... Well my numbers are pretty much "normal" now. TOTALLY crazy! I am a LONG way from a take-home baby, but these results are so promising that I think I actually have a little hope in my head, somewhere.
